Remington Adds the Popular 308 Marlin Express to Centerfire Rifle Ammunition Category

Madison, N.C. – New for 2009, Remington is offering the 308 Marlin Express cartridge in the legendary line of Core-Lokt® hunting ammunition. Now Marlin® lever-action fans shooting the hot new 308 Marlin Express cartridge can experience the "Deadliest Mushroom in the Woods." The 308 Marlin Express offering will feature a Core-Lokt 150 grain soft point bullet with a muzzle velocity of 2725 fps, providing 308 Win performance levels in a lever-action platform.

In 1939, Remington Arms Company Inc. set the world standard in centerfire rifle ammunition design and performance with the advent of the Core-Lokt bullet. This new bullet design was based around the thicker mid-section of its heavy metal jacket which mechanically locked to its inner lead core. The Core-Lokt bullet was the first controlled expansion bullet that provided hunters with minimum bullet break-up and deep penetration on game. Over the years Remington has refined the original Core-Lokt design and perfected the manufacturing processes used to produce it. Now, nearly 70 years after its introduction, the Remington® Core-Lokt bullet has taken more big game than any other bullet on the market. Generations of hunters have trusted Remington Core-Lokt to put meat on the table and trophies on their walls.

Marlin Donates 30,000,000th Lever Action Rifle to NRA–ILA

Madison, NC –The first Marlin lever action rifle was produced in 1881. Now, more than a century later, Marlin lever action rifles have stood the test of time and continue to occupy a prominent position within the landscape of American firearms. Generations of hunters and shooters have depended on the Marlin lever action rifle for its legendary accuracy and rugged dependability. To celebrate this great American legacy, Marlin has donated its thirty millionth lever action rifle to the NRA–ILA for auction at the 2008 NRA Annual Meeting in Louisville, Kentucky. Marlin has chosen to produce a very unique Model 1895CB to signify its 30,000,000th lever action rifle.

"This commemorative rifle is indeed an exceptional work of art," said Marlin Firearms President, Bob Behn. "The NRA–ILA fights hard everyday to preserve and protect the 2nd Amendment and our Nation's firearms and hunting heritage. I can't think of a better way to celebrate this tremendous company milestone."

Marlin 30,000,000th Lever Action

  • Chambered in 45–70 GOVT.
  • Exquisitely hand engraved by Baron Technology
  • Fancy American Walnut Stock
  • Adjustable Marbles Semi–Buckhorn Rear Sight with Carbine Front Sight
  • Breech and Receiver Detail

The receiver is decorated in textured open American style with liner shading throughout with a fine punch dot background. The top of the receiver is completely covered in American scroll pattern that is bordered on the beveled sides by an overlapping leaf detail while the breech has a continuation of the receiver scroll, ending with a 24kt gold inlay that flows down the barrel on either side of the rear sight.

Left Panel Detail
The serial number is prominently displayed in a 24kt gold solid inlay with deep hand–cut letters. The great American Bison is cut in the Bulino style, and is raised above the field of 24kt gold inlay that makes up the cameo's oval shape. There is a Florentine texture throughout this inlay that enriches the surface by softly diffusing the light, making the gold give off warmth, without glare or a bold reflection.

Right Panel Detail
The time–honored Marlin Scout is also prominently featured in the Bulino style, and is raised above the inlayed gold cameo. "Marlin 30 Millionth" is inlaid in 24kt gold, into a banner that flows under the Scout cameo. The safety is gold filled to replicate the target used by traditional Marlin advertising and the rifle's bolt is polished and fine jeweled.

Finger Lever and Hammer Detail
Detailed as fine Marlins have been for over 100 years, the arrow on the hammer adds a distinct "Marlin" touch, and is inlaid in solid gold. The Lever is engraved and inlaid with 24kt gold to accent the shape of the lever and matches the scroll detail featured on the rifle's barrel.

Founded in 1870, Marlin Firearms is one of the largest sporting firearms manufacturers in the world. Marlin is known for its outstanding lever action rifles, and rimfire rifles and is located in North Haven, Connecticut.

Remington Announces Manufacturing Consolidation Plan.

Madison, NC – April 7, 2008  Remington Arms Company, Inc. ("Remington"), the United States' largest firearms manufacturer, today announced a strategic manufacturing consolidation move that will result in the closure of its Gardner, Massachusetts plant ("Gardner"). This integration will be seamless and will not affect our customers or our product offerings.

"While it was a difficult decision to close Gardner, we believe that this consolidation will enhance our ability to more efficiently provide quality products at competitive prices in an increasingly demanding global marketplace." said Tommy Millner, Remington's Chief Executive Officer. "We are always looking for ways to strengthen and optimize our business in order to stay competitive, while also creating additional opportunities for our employees and better products for customers. Our number one goal is to provide our customers and end–users with the best, most innovative products at a competitive price. Consolidation of manufacturing capabilities and migration to common operating systems are expected to create efficiencies that will achieve this goal."

Throughout the remainder of 2008, the integration of Gardner's operations is expected to result in centralized sales and marketing, streamlined operations, standardized information technology infrastructure, and common financial functionality while vigorously maintaining and promoting individual brand identity and products.

Unfortunately, an estimated 200 Gardner employees will be impacted by the closure, which is expected to be completed by the end of 2008. A number of employees will transition from Gardner to other capacities within the Company. For those not transferred, the Company will be offering severance, outplacement, and referral services in order to assist in this difficult transition.

Made with the latest in rifle design and technology, the XL7 has modern yet practical features that matter to practical hunters. Features like Marlin's new Pro–Fire™ accuracy enhancing trigger, the new Marlin Soft–Tech® recoil pad, a lightweight pillar bedded synthetic stock and more.

The innovative Pro–Fire™ trigger system is user adjustable, virtually creep free and can be set to break at a crisp 2 1/2 lbs. An in–house Marlin design, the Pro–Fire™ trigger release prevents movement of the trigger until it is depressed.

The Soft–Tech® recoil pad significantly reduces felt recoil, making the XL7 much easier and more pleasant to shoot than other rifles in its class.

Other notable features on the XL7 include: A fluted bolt for an exceptionally smooth action, steel sling swivel studs that will not break or degrade over time, pillar bedding for consistent accuracy, a synthetic stock available in black or Realtree® All Purpose Green HD, high polished blued steel, checkered bolt handle, recessed barrel crown, and classic American style checkering molded into the lightweight synthetic stock.

The rifles will have an MSRP of $326.00 for the black synthetic model, and $356.00 for the camouflaged model.

Remington to Acquire Marlin Firearms

Deal positions Marlin and its various brands for growth

Madison, North Carolina – December 26, 2007 – Remington Arms Company, Inc. ("Remington" or " the Company") the only manufacturer of both firearms and ammunition for Hunting, Law Enforcement/Security, Government & Military applications in the United States, today announced it has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire Marlin Firearms Company, Inc. ("Marlin"). The transaction is expected to close by the end of January 2008.

Marlin, headquartered in North Haven, Connecticut, also owns Harrington and Richardson (H&R), New England Firearms (NEF) and LC Smith brands of rifles and shotguns.

Tommy Millner Remington's CEO, said, "I am pleased to announce that Marlin's well known brands with a long heritage of providing quality rifles and shotguns to hunters and shooters around the world will join the Remington family. The opportunity to combine two historic U.S. based companies with such storied and proud histories, is both challenging and exhilarating."

"We look forward to working with Bob Behn, a well respected member of our industry. He will remain as president of Marlin, charting a course of further growth and operational improvement," Mr. Millner continued.

Closing of the transaction is subject to certain customary conditions, including regulatory approvals. Credit Suisse acted as financial advisor to Remington with respect to this acquisition. Duff & Phelps Securities, LLC, a unit of Duff & Phelps Corporation (NYSE:DUF), initiated the transaction, assisted in the negotiations and acted as exclusive financial advisor to Marlin.

Frank Kenna III, Marlin's Chairman, said, "Marlin has been a family run business since 1924 and through a number of important steps, we have grown it into the company it is today. We knew it was time to find the right partner for Marlin to ensure our brands maintain their leadership positions and move into the next century."

Mr. Kenna III continued, "We believe Remington's commitment to the industry, shooters and hunters alike, combined with their resources from a manufacturing and sales and marketing position, will reinforce the confidence, hard work and dedication that our employees and management have put into our brands."

Marlin manufactures a wide range of long guns, from the historic Model 39 and 336 rifles, which are the oldest shoulder arm designs in the world still being produced, to the XLR Series, which are the most accurate lever action rifles in the world. Its lever action 22 repeater, now the Model 39, became the favorite of many exhibition shooters, including the great Annie Oakley.

E. Scott Blackwell, Remington's President of Global Sales/Marketing and Product Development, said, "The history of our two companies in innovation and meeting the needs of hunters and shooters around the globe, combined with the opportunity to further develop the Remington, Marlin, H&R, NEF and LC Smith brands, is not only beneficial to the Company and our channel partners, but especially to our to the end customer. And it is these customers and our employees that have contributed to the success and longevity of these brands."

Marlin lever actions chambered in Hornady's new 308 Marlin Express produce spectacular performance.

308 Marlin Express

This new cartridge was developed by Hornady and is chambered exclusively in two new Marlin lever actions. It has enabled us to create the first traditionally–styled lever action rifle chambered for a true "flat shooting" cartridge.

Ballistics for the 308 Marlin Express are virtually identical to the 308 Win., resulting in enough energy to be lethal on big game out to 400 yards.

This unheard–of performance is made possible by Hornady's development of LEVEREVOLUTION® ammunition technology, using new powder formulations and their exclusive Flex–Tip® bullet design.

The two models chambered for this round are: the blued 308MX with a 22" barrel and walnut stock, and the stainless steel 308MXLR with a 24" barrel and laminated stock.

Both rifles will be available during the second quarter of 2007.

Model 336XLR–35

A new lever action in the same configuration as current XLR models, but chambered in 35 Rem. It's designed to take optimum advantage of Hornady LEVEREVOLUTION® ammunition, which improves performance of this caliber dramatically.

Model 917S

A new stainless steel version of this popular 17 HMR bolt action rifle with a sporter barrel and open sights. It also features a rugged black synthetic stock.

Model 60SN

Our classic blued Model 60 semi–auto 22 with a black synthetic stock, swivel studs, and a very competitive price.

Small gauge L.C. Smiths

The interest in 28 gauge and 410 side–by–side models has been intense. For 2007, we're offering both, with the smooth, elegant "Elsie" lines and lots of features. Both guns have gold game bird images on the sides and the bottom of the receiver. They also feature single selective triggers and checkered walnut pistol grip stocks. And both models come with three choke tubes (yes, even the 410!).

Carbon fiber–dipped stocks

This exciting new pattern has a high–tech look and is extremely tough. We're using it on four rimfire models in 2007: the 60SSK stainless steel 22 autoloader, 980VS stainless 22 LR bolt action, 917VS stainless 17HMR bolt action, and the 982VS, a stainless 22 Magnum bolt action.

Bolt action rimfire synthetic stock upgrade

All bolt action rimfire models with synthetic stocks feature a new, classic stock design, with a fluted comb, deep molded checkering and swivel studs.

Magnum rimfires now supplied with two clips

All Marlin clip–loading 22WMR and 17HMR bolt action rifles now come with both a 4–shot and a 7–shot clip magazine. The new 4–shot clip mounts nearly flush with the stock, making the rifle more comfortable to carry, both in the hand and with a sling. It also gives the rifle a sleeker profile.

Factory–mounted scopes

Five models are being offered with mounted scopes that are bore–sighted at the factory. They include 30/30 Models 336A and 336W, and rimfire Models 917V (17HMR), 925R (22LR), all of which include a 3–9x32 variable scope, and the 60SN with a 4x20.
